The Windows Mobile 2003 Connection Manager

This Mini-How-To was created to help users configure the Windows Mobile 2003 Connection Manager correctly. The page is based on the Recommendations section in Chris De Herrera's Connection Manager FAQ and adapted to the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system.

The following are screen shots of an iPAQ 3835 running the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system using either a wireless D-Link DCF-650W 802.11b card or a wired Socket LP-E CF+ Ethernet card for local network access.


The Connection Manager is configured for use with a wired Ethernet or wireless 802.11b network. Tap Start and select Settings. Next tap Connections, then tap the Connections icon.

Tap Start -> Settings Tap Settings -> Connections Tap Connections

Tap on Advanced then the Select what your network card connects to [Network Card] button. Select Work from the My network card connects to: drop down. Tap ok.

Select the bottom Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: drop down menu and select My Work Network. Tap on Edit... Note the default settings are used in this case.

Check the This network connects to the Internet checkbox in the Proxy Settings configuration window. Tap ok. Select the top Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: drop down menu and select My Work Network. Tap ok.

Tap ok to exit the Connection Manager. Tap the X to exit the Settings window.

Perform a soft reset to complete the procedure.
